What Cannabidiol (CBD) Is Not

Pass it on:

The CBD industry is on the rise, and that comes with a lot of noise. Everyone is doing their best in telling you what CBD is, how it works, and what you can use it for. However, nobody is telling you what CBD is not. Here are the 5 things that CBD is not:

CBD Does NOT Get You High

The CBD molecule is non-psychoactive, which means that it does not get you high, nor does it impair your motor skills. On the contrary, CBD has been shown to improve mobility and motor skills. That seems to go against what we humans have experienced with medicine. For example, if we don’t want to feel pain, we end up taking medication that impairs our thinking and motor skills. Also, if we are feeling tired, we consume products that end up affecting our physiology. CBD, however, naturally signals and interacts with our endocannabinoid system, so we are left feeling better without unwanted side effects. There are many different CBD delivery methods which you can read about here.

CBD is NOT Dangerous

Contrary to what you may read about CBD being a Schedule I controlled substance with the DEA, it is not dangerous. In fact, zero reports of overdose or death resulting from CBD consumption. Quite the opposite, actually. According to the US National Library of Medicine National Institute of Health,

Here, the most commonly reported side effects were tiredness, diarrhea, and changes of appetite/weight. In comparison with other drugs, used for the treatment of these medical conditions, CBD has a better side effect profile. This could improve patients’ compliance and adherence to treatment.

Furthermore, the DEA just rescheduled a drug named Epidiolex –which contains pure isolated CBD– from Schedule I to Schedule V, meaning that it is harmless.

CBD is NOT from the Cannabis Plant

The cannabis plant is not the only plant that contains beneficial cannabinoids. We always tend to forget about its cousin, the hemp plant. Hemp has been used throughout human history for textiles (clothes), rope, and paper. The US Constitution is written on hemp paper. Our founding fathers, including George Washington, was an avid hemp farmer. The hemp plant only has 0.3% of THC. A minuscule amount that is acceptable by all testing authorities. As usual, it was lobbying, in this case, the cotton lobby, that demonized hemp and coerced our federal lawmakers to outlaw it. We are much better educated now, so these archaic laws can now be overturned at the federal level.

CBD is NOT Illegal

Despite CBD being a controlled substance at the federal level, it is legal in all 50 states. That is because CBD has been shown to the be the only cure for childhood epilepsy. Therefore, doctors, families, and politicians worked together to legalize CBD to bring comfort to children suffering from this otherwise incurable disease. Even the most conservative states have legalized CBD. However, the CBD must be extracted from hemp plants and not from the cannabis plant. That would make the legality of the product more difficult to argue. So, make sure the CBD you are getting is derived from hemp plants, just like the ones found in the CBD Online Store.

CBD is NOT Regulated

The CBD market is still a relatively new market and remains unregulated by government authorities. That means that we must rely on the industry to regulate itself. That also means that you must do a lot of research before choosing your CBD products. We at the CBD Online Store make sure that the companies we source from have the strictest manufacturing processes implemented. We also require that testing is carried out by independent 3rd party laboratories. This way, we can be sure that you are getting the purest most potent CBD.
